Triple Blooms

First, our favorite tree “woke up” this weekend.  It’s a full week behind all of the other trees in the area.  Then again, our house, yard and flora were all constructed and planted about 10 to 15 years before the rest of the neighborhood. Age does tend to make the best of us a bit sluggish.  Here’s a closeup.

Today’s [...]

A Birthday Contest

Hey there!  Christy is having a contest to mark her 29th birthday, so head on over there and spread some birthday cheer and enter to win some great prizes too!  Unlike some of us, she really is 29. Happy Birthday!

Countdown to Packwood!

Sweet Sleep, oh how I missed thee! Isn’t it amazing that staying up late just one little old night can throw you off for the rest of the week. After sleeping until almost 8:00 this morning I finished over-dyeing some handspun. The verdict remains out and I shall reserve judgement until it’s dried properly and  been [...]

PDX Harlot

These past few days have left my head spinning… no pun intended. First, on Monday a package arrived from Ruth.  I had won a contest at her site and these are the wonderful prizes.  The first picture shows a handy and convenient Stitch Saver key chain.  She makes and sells these on Etsy. What a clever idea! The [...]

One More Day!

I’m way too excited for a proper blog entry. Tomorrow after work I’ll meet up with MonicaPDX to go see The Yarn Harlot!  My DH has earned extra Brownie points (meaning I won’t nag him for obsessive computer gaming for at least a week) because he’s taking leave from work to be here to pick [...]

Mostly non-knitting

Yesterday while fueling the mom-mobile I numbly stared at the little numbers on the pump climbing higher and higher as the tank filled up.  We are not extravagant people. We do not drive a Hummer or expensive SUV.  If not for the fact that we have two children in car seats (which take up more seat [...]

Yawn & Stretch

Today I ventured to wear the Arwen cardigan.  It was okay to wear, but not great. I’d prefer to have a closure of some sort down the front to keep out wayward breezes.  At one point I was caught in a torrent of rain and hail so I put up the hood. But as soon as [...]

Title-less

While walking down the hall at work yesterday a fellow employee congratulated me in passing.  Because I was in a hurry I simply thanked her and continued on my way. The incident briefly amused me as I pondered its possible meanings, but her comment was soon forgotten. Later that afternoon there was a fire drill. While all of the students were [...]

What a delightful vacation

this has been!  Rather than fly off to the French Riviera we decided to eschew the Paparazzi and enjoy a quiet week at home.
We rented this

and then my DH tilled the garden.

I’m so excited to be able to grow our own food again.  It never really feels like home until we plant something.  It [...]

Happy April Oneth

No April fool’s jokes here… that would require creativity and effort.  And since this is technically my “vacation” I’m not  working on anything other than what’s necessary for daily survival.  All spare time will be spent sleeping, reading, knitting or spinning.  Just kidding, April Fools! Did any of you really believe that my kids, etc. would allow for [...]
