Happy New Year!

Good riddance to 2010 and welcome 2011!  Not that 2010 was terrible, but it was an exhausting year. Our family ushered in the second decade of the new millenia with our good friends, Dan and Zoë and A1’s friend too.

Dan and Zoë

Being the exciting crowd that we are, our evening consisted of grazing at the buffet…

catching up (they became grandparents this past year) …

and for the grand finale, we made a toast in the kitchen with various beverages, then set off sparklers outside.

My DH’s Christmas socks were finally finished this past weekend.  He proclaimed them a little loose in the calves, but otherwise acceptable.

While visiting during the evening I knitted a little on a pair of Snow Queen socks using Zauberball Sock Yarn in the Stonewashed colorway.

After a brief nap today I’m undecorating the house.  With any luck the rest of the family can be convinced to pitch in.  The thought of going back to work Monday and still having a tree up is haunting me.  Hope everyone welcomed in 2011 safely.  Happy New Year!

p.s. my Dh wasn’t able to sleep for two nights because the “Backing Up” song in the second part of the video on the previous post got stuck in his head.  He went to work on Wednesday dragging because he was exhausted from the lack of sleep.  So at lunch time I called him up and sang the song to him. You know, just to help keep him awake for the rest of the day. Ha! Yesterday his new, late Christmas I-Pod arrived.  Now he can put in head phones and hopefully be rid of the earworm once and for all. It is a surprisingly catchy tune.

I’ll be doing that tomorrow (undecorating) along with about six loads of laundry and waiting for the mattress delivery guys. When they leave, they’ll be backin’ up, backin’ up….
