Friday!

Yesterday we had a snow day, complete with hot chocolate, movies, knitting and p.j.s.  The only thing missing was snow.  Today we’re back to school. The ground is clear, but it’s still 19°F. My mom said there was over 10 inches of the stuff out at their house on the coast.

Progress was made on Jackie’s (my sister) vest yesterday.  If all goes as planned, it’s going to flow, with a pleat behind the lace leaf panels on the front to make them drape. The front sides will end in points angled towards the center, where the vest meets up in the middle. Theoretically.  When I tried to take a picture Roxanna jumped in to make it important.  Every time I moved her she’d go right back to rolling around on it.

Finally I gave up taking the picture in the office and relocated to the dining room.  After laying out the vest and retrieving the camera this is what I found.

Roxanna and Steve were quite persistent, so in the end, this was the best picture I managed to get.

Eyeball update: A2 watched a movie about dissecting the cow’s eye while in class on Wednesday and decided that she would participate in the lab after all.  She spent about an hour yesterday (because there was no snow to play in) on-line making note cards for the pre-test the students must take.  This will be a group project so that helped her decide too. Working with friends always makes any job easier.  She promised not to complain and to try her best.

It’s Friday, so hope everyone enjoys a safe, warm end to the work week. Cheers!

When I was in middle school, we had to dissect a frog, like so many other kids. Ours were frozen stiff in the formaldehyde and difficult to work with. I was partnered up with a very squealy and squeamish boy. I did all the cutting.
The sweater looks awesome! I got some quilting done and made some chocolate cupcakes (not so good for the hips, but yummy, nonetheless).

You have knitting helper kitties, too! Aren’t we so lucky???????? A2 should stand proud. What a great kid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The vest is gorgeous and the kitties wanted to invest it with their blessings. “Everything is better with a kitty.” Roxanna has such a pretty white tummy, and Steve has such an engaging set of ears!

Hooray A-2! I found it easier to think of the biology dissections as being done on plastic models. If you dwell on it being a real cow’s real eye, your sympathetic stomach turns. But if you tell yourself it’s just a plastic model, then it’s ok.

Hope A3 is feeling better. Poor kiddo!

That’s a lovely vest and so say all of us.
