Autumn Happenings!

Originally there weren’t going to be any pictures with this post for two very good reasons. First, not very much has been going on and the little that has is not photo-worthy. Second, my camera disappeared for awhile and when it turned up again the memory card was full from A3 making movies of herself, the cats, her sisters, etc.  This one was made when she was supposed to be doing homework.  I wish she would have at least made sure the kitchen was clean first.  Silly girl!

Anyway, as far as the latest happenings go, there haven’t been many. I’ve not had a lot of  free time over the past few weeks so I’ve only knitted minimally on a mindless sock.  It’s quite pitiful.

The garden is done for the season.  Only the pumpkins, some cabbages and few lone green tomatoes are left in the beds.  This week I’ll plant next year’s garlic and transplant some raspberries.  This was the final “real” harvest.

A2 joined the official teenage ranks last week.  We celebrated with  peanut butter chocolate chip pie and she’s getting a new anime’ costume.

A1 spent a week out of commission due to a neck injury.  She’s back to normal and able to go to school and cheer again.  The cheerleaders work very hard and I worry about them.  One of her friends ended up with a cracked rib and torn back muscles following an injury at a different game.

Speaking of A1, we spent yesterday shopping for a Homecoming dress.  She had such a hard time finding one that fit her and that she liked last year that we wanted to get an early start.  It’s a good thing we did too, because it will take about 4 weeks for the right color to be shipped. This is the style, but she opted for champagne instead of salmon.

Now that we’re back to school and work my official bed time is 8:00 again.  Each night the cats jockey for position to see who gets to sleep on my legs. Every now and then Steven gets a little uppity and tries to steal my pillow.  He sings loudly and meows me out soundly when I move him.

A2 and A3 have already decorated for Halloween.  Unfortunately, about 20 minutes after they finished the winds and rain set in.  All of their carefully placed spider webs were shredded and the tombstones blew over.

I’ve spent much of the day baking.  Nothing elaborate, just some pumpkin pies and banana bread.

Time permitting, I’ll bake some oatmeal raisin cookies for my DH this afternoon.   It’s officially beginning to feel like autumn, which is my favorite time of year.  Hope everyone is enjoying the season and planning their fall/winter knitting. Cheers!

The movie made me laugh out loud! She’s so smart and silly.

The yard decor is impressive, and the new dress is tres chic! Quite suitable for hand-me-ups to mom.

Hope your DH got the cookies. And I hope your fall will be wonderful!

  2. Congrats to the hard working cheer leaders, don’t think we do that here in schools. Up North they do parades with girls and pompoms and …kazoos maybe. That’s the sound I hear in my head when I think about them. Also enjoyed the Jaws video, expect tarentino started in much the same way.

I’m going to go and make a movie clip right now! I’ve only ever done boring stills and totally ignored the movie option. I shall post the result. Thanks A3.
    Cheers Gillian
